womb Hara Massage
Returning to the womb, the centre, the Great Mother within
The womb is the energetic heart of our creative life force. It is the place we birth from — children, yes, but also projects, ideas, visions, and every new way of being we long to bring into the world. Many traditions have honoured the womb as a portal to the Great Cosmic Mother: the source from which all life is born and to which it returns. In Japanese, hara means the belly — the abdominal centre where the organs that carry our breath, blood and vital energy reside. Like the womb, the hara is a spirit gateway, closely tied to the sacral and solar plexus energy centres.
Womb Hara Massage tends both. It is a slow, ceremonial abdominal massage that invites the belly to soften, the breath to deepen, and the womb to be met with reverence, so that your life force and creative power can flow again.
A fusion of East and West, body and spirit Hara Womb Massage draws on both Eastern and Western understandings of the body, including the ancient Taoist abdominal practice of Chi Nei Tsang. Gentle work across the low back, sacrum, womb space and abdomen encourages the flow of chi, helps release stagnant energy held in the tissues, and supports the nervous system to shift out of holding and into rest.
Alongside the hands-on work, sessions may include:
Hara assessment — listening to the belly to sense where energy is flowing and where it is held
Intuitive womb massage — to help the womb feel received, aligned and awake
Traditional Japanese moxibustion — gentle warmth to bring harmony to the womb space
The elemental womb medicine wheel — placing the womb within the cycles of earth, water, fire and air
Shamanic clearing and feminine soul retrieval — calling back parts of ourselves left behind in times of pain or disconnection
Awakening the heart held in the womb — reconnecting the womb with love, tenderness and inner knowing
Ceremonial wrapping and swaddling — an ancient practice of holding the body to support release of what has been carried, emotionally, physically and spiritually
Cycle awareness — reconnecting with the wisdom of your menstrual or seasonal rhythms
What a session may support
Every body responds in its own way. Women often come to Hara Womb Massage when they want to:
Reconnect with their womb space and its cosmology
Feel held by and in relationship with Great Mother energy
Soften tension and holding in the belly and pelvic bowl
Return to the womb after birth, loss, surgery or a long season of disconnection
Feel more grounded, embodied and present in their bodies
Honour a threshold — a new season, a healing journey, a rebirth
What to expect
Sessions are about two hours and take place in my healing studio in North Vancouver.
REACH OUT. 30 MINUTE ZOOM CHAT. INTAKE FORM. CEREMONY HARA WOMB MASSAGE. INTEGRATION VOXER TEXTS for 1 week.
We begin with a conversation about what’s alive for you and what you’d like to tend. You’ll then rest, comfortably dressed and draped, while I work with the belly, sacrum and low back using warm oil, breath and slow touch, alongside any ceremonial elements that feel right for you. We close with swaddling and quiet integration time, and space to share anything that arose.
You are in charge of your experience throughout. You can pause, change the pressure, or stop at any time.
Before you book
This is a complementary practice and isn’t a substitute for medical care. Please let me know beforehand if you are pregnant, have recently given birth or had abdominal surgery, have an IUD, are bleeding heavily, or have any diagnosed conditions, so we can decide together whether this work is right for you now. If you have concerns about prolapse or other pelvic health issues, please also see your doctor or a pelvic floor physiotherapist.
